We are learning to find words that rhyme
Catch a Little Rhyme
Once upon a time
I caught a little rhyme
I set it on the floor
but it ran right out the door
I chased it on my bicycle
but it melted to an icicle
I scooped it up in my hat
but it turned into a cat
I caught it by the tail
but it stretched into a whale
I followed it in a boat
but it changed into a goat
When I fed it tin and paper
it became a skyscraper
Then it grew into a kite
and flew far out of sight...

Your Task:
With a buddy choose a word from the rhyming words below. Go onto the desktop and open the file that has that name. On that picture write as many words as you can that rhyme with that word. Make sure you save it once you have finished.
Rhyming words
sail, tank, bee, ball, joke, broom
We are learning to use interesting words
Re-read this poem and then write a comment. In the comment you need to choose an emotion e.g. happy, sad or angry and then write interesting words to describe this emotion. You can use a thesaurus to make these words interesting. When you write the words you need to think about:
- what you would be feeling when you have this emotion
- what you look like when you have this emotion
- what you are doing when you have that emotion
(Have a look at my example if you are unsure)
Grumpy Grouch
There’s a grumpy little grouch,
and he gets inside of me.
I don’t like him being there!
I don’t like his company!
He makes me groan and grizzle
and go thumping with my feet.
He makes me grouch and grumble
at everyone I meet!
He makes my face all growly
and my lips go poking out!
And he will not let me whisper,
he will only let me SHOUT!
But . . . this grumpy little grouch
doesn’t hang around for long.
He’ll vanish like a raindrop
when I sing a happy song!

Once I got to the earth-boards I immediately grabbed on to the nearest and coolest one. Then the adult who was in charge of it said “hop on your earth-boards get set go!’’ It was nerve-racking when he said go because it looked painful, what if I fell off. I thought I would, and I did, it hurt. I had lots of grass stains on my jeans.
Soon enough they were ready to go “are you ready’’ said the adult ‘’yes’’ we all said except me. But just then Cameron pushed me straight down the rocks. I felt like my heart was beating 100 kilometers an hour! I felt like a yellow and black cheater in a huge paddock. After a few more runs I felt good. Then we went to the next thing. I wondered what it was.
Then I felt a bit better when we got to the bmx bikes. Then I said hello to the adult, he came and gave me a race across the whole field, it was really tough. But he completely won by miles because he has more muscles than me.
Then we went to damper. My dad was there and he was dirty and had dough all over his clothes. First we got water and flour then we mixed it all up until it was all gooey, sticky and squishy. After that we put the dough on a stick and put it in the hot scorching fire. But it slipped in the fire then we had to get another one. I had to wait a long time for it to get crunchy and crispy. Then it suddenly caught on fire, I panicked and it got burned. I ate some and it was really yummy, it was the yummiest thing that I had ever tasted.
The next thing I did was go to the parachute. I was number 3 and when my number was called I had to run as fast as I possibly could around the parachute once. But I slipped around the corner because I had socks on then you had to get the ball. The parachute was the bright colours of the rainbow.
Soon we went to a game when you pass platforms to each other as fast as we could then you step on it. There was 7 things that were the platforms. In the end I wondered if it was fast or slow.
By the time I was back I was really tired. I fell asleep before it was dark and dad put water on me to wake me up. The water was out of my drink bottle.

Bunkroom number four waited very patiently for the instructions for the relays. I was feeling happy because I love doing relays.
Miss Brandon said the instructions for the relays clearly and loudly. I was listening for what I was doing.
I was slow because I only have a small mouth. Everybody else was ahead of me. Miss Brandon told me just to go back when I was only half way through the weet-bix. I’m not use to dry weetbix because I have toast for breakfast. The weetbix was only about as big as my hand. It was tuff for me. When I was running back my teammates cheered loudly for me.
Next Gabby had to put honey on her nose with an iceblock stick. After that she had to put a cotton ball on the patch where the honey was. I was cheering for Gabby. After she had put on the cotton ball she had to blow it off.
Then Piper had to break up chocolate into little pieces and eat it all up. After that Lenique had to drink fizzy drink and then burp. After that Kiana had to get a chocolate fish our of the ice-cream container. She had to get it out of the blue and white icecream container. The container didn’t come with a lid. But I had to do the chocolate fish out of the container because Kiana didn’t want to. When I was eating the soft yummy chocolate fish it was tiring. Again my teammates were cheering loudly for me. All my teammates were thinking we might win, but we did not. But in the end it was easy. I was running back hard out back to the others. After I put the chocolate fish in my mouth was squishy and gooey.
I was very tired after the relays because all that eating made my mouth very sore. Finally it was the end of the relays. My teeth were so sore that I couldn’t eat anything else.

Firstly we went to the bmx bikes. It was awesome. Some of them could not ride the bikes so Shane and my mum Nicky were helping them out. Shane and Nicky were being so helpful and people were saying this is hard like pushing a hippo!
Then we went to tramps. It was a lot of fun. At the trampolines people thought it would be bouncy but it was as slow as a snail. I was doing rolly pollies and when I was doing them I was curled up like a armadillo when it is in the shape of a bouncy ball.
Then it was parachute time. We had to bounce the regular tennis ball on top of the parachute and not let it fall off. The parachute was as colourful as a long glowing rainbow.
Suddenly I jumped on the nearest earthboard and went down the little hill. When I was going down there was a sudden bump, “Whoa.” I said. The ride was wicked. I could not wait until it was my turn again. I felt so happy because I was having so much fun on the earthboards.
After that it was co-operative games. You had to get the quickest time. My team won. The prize was a little banana chocolate bar. It was yummy. At the co-operative games we had to use everyday items and get across from one pole to the other.
Finally we went to damper. At damper we had to cook some bread and when we cooked it we sliced open it and put some butter on it.
